Career Development

This movie was so inspirational, I was very moved by what people had to say and the things we have to show Florence Nightingale. There are so many different things that come to mind when we talk about what it is like to be a nurse in today’s world. It has become so much more as the practice is all about what we can do to help our patients in so many different ways. I learned in this move that I want to be more informed about things going on. When I get to my first job, I would like to be including in ways we can improve our patient care and the quality of the care we provide as a whole. I know that certain research should be down before going to an interview and there are things that we should know about the hospital like their mission.

I will prepare for my interviews by researching the hospitals missions as well as looking at research about things that they support that we as nurses can be a part of. I would like to know the priorities and specific job responsibilities these are things that I can ask the interviewer if I am unable to find them when doing research.  Talk about opportunities with continuing education in the hospital. Some strengths that I have gained while being at UNE and in the nursing, program would be active listening, being able to talk to and listen to a patient letting them know that I care and understand what they are saying and what they need from me. I want to be trusted by my patients. I also have some strengths with leadership once I am in a more comfortable setting this has been something that I have picked up with being a manager at my summer job as well as being part of a team on the university’s cheerleading team for over 2 years. Teamwork and dedication are something that I strongly bring to the table. Some challenges would be a unit not working together or helping each other out this is something that would need to be addressed so we are able to provide the best quality of care to our patients. Also not being afraid to ask for help when you need it. No question is a dumb question.  More questions asked can lead to fewer mistakes by uncertain measures.
